Our speakers will share what they learned in real projects, including the bumps along the way, and how they solved them
Part 1: WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) Anne Wilbrink
Everyone should be able to use digital applications, including people with a visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disability. That is the idea behind WCAG, the international guidelines for web accessibility. For government apps and other applications with a public function, meeting them is not optional but a legal requirement. So if you build these apps in Mendix, accessibility has to be part of your build from day one.
In this session we cover the rules that matter most, and how we at Finaps apply them in our Mendix apps, from design choices to the widgets we use.
Part 2: SmartDocuments by Hillary Bustamante
Generating documents is a common requirement in Mendix projects, but maintaining complex document layouts, branding, and business rules inside your application can quickly become challenging. SmartDocuments offers a way to separate document creation from application development, allowing templates to be managed independently while your application focuses on business logic and data. While setting up templates is no longer the hard part (if you know, you know), building a reliable and scalable document generation process around them is where the real challenge begins.
In this session, we will take you behind the scenes of the technical integration between Mendix and SmartDocuments. Drawing on our experience at Finaps, we will show how to set up the integration, map data and generate documents directly from your application.
We will also share the lessons we learned along the way, from configuration challenges and data mapping complexities to performance bottlenecks that only emerge at scale. Expect a practical, technical session with actionable insights that you can apply in your own Mendix projects.
