https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/5d3205ba-958b-4652-a58d-429a07698fefDesigning apps with Mendix may seem simple, but there is an art to it! Join us at this Ordina meet up (NL Edition), where experts Rico Robinson and Wouter Penris will shed light on 2 main topics:
1) Enterprise vs. Consumer Design PrinciplesHave you ever come across design tips telling you to keep it simple, make use of more whitespace or to design for mobile first? While definitely valid and helpful, a lot of design advice found online is tailored to designing consumer-facing applications or websites. With Mendix, more often than not, we work for enterprises. In this talk, Rico Robinson will describe the overlap and differences between enterprise and consumer Ux, as well as factors to consider when making design decisions.
2) Data VersioningImagine a form that is passed from person A to B to C; each person makes changes to the underlying Form object. How do we keep track of who made what changes when, where, why, etc.? How to present such changes elegantly in your Mendix app? In this section of the meet up, Wouter Penris will demo a sleek data-versioning pattern with a domain and Ui/x aspect, that you can use to create and maintain a chain of versioned data.
With this knowledge you’ll be able to simply and elegantly employ better Ux design and data versioning for your Mendix apps.
Key Takeaways:
Of course, there will be plenty of time for questions and networking, as always. 😊 The event will be held at the Ordina office in Utrecht.
Agenda:
Join us on an evening of pushing pixels and next-level networking!

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/cbed512c-2f2b-468d-bdcd-c5163aae24fcDid you know that Mendix runs their own platform on the Mendix platform? The Community and Collaboration unit is responsible for many of the applications you daily interact with if you want to manage your project, get certified or are stuck with an issue. Most if not all apps are also build with Mendix our former CTO called it drinking our own champagne, and now with this meetup series we will explain some of our solutions to you and how we manage our own Mendix landscape at scale.
The first Meetup in the series is all about introducing the Community and Collaboration unit (aka C&C) and how we are sending emails and do UX at scale.
Whenever you signup, invite someone to your project, answer a question, and many more instance Mendix sends out emails to recipients. When the platform started all emails were sent by the application itself and all styling and templates were handled by them individually as well. Of course this is fine whenever you start sending emails for four applications but if you want to make it scalable different approaches are required. Roeland and Shana are going to talk about how we in Mendix send all those emails.
But what about the front end? How can we ensure a seamless experience for users across apps?A design system! Back in 2019, C&C owned numerous apps, each with their own custom CSS. This sparked the idea of having a design system to support the multi-app landscape. We'd like to share the experience of our star - Platform Design System! Also how we proved the value of PDS and conquered challenges along the way.

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/21f84878-ebfd-4496-9605-e5ea792eae63In the past year, the world has been introduced to increasingly innovative smart assistants, powered by generative AI. More and more complex questions are being answered, and with the introduction of agents, tasks can even be performed automatically and partially autonomously.
But what does this mean for the Mendix Community? Mendix Assist simplifies Mendix application development for both new and experienced developers. But there is also a lot going on at the edge of the platform. There is a global discussion about the potential for generative AI to replace the high-code developer partially. How can we use this high-code assistance during our widget development workflow? We explored it for you!
AI Showdown – The ComparisonThis Meetup is the result of weeks of research in which Erick Souza, Tobias Kuhn, Lukas Tost and myself used different AI code assistants in developing a widget for a fictional use case. Which assistant provides valuable answers? How up-to-date is the assistants' knowledge? Which code examples are qualitative? And does it actually make the development of a widget faster, better, or of higher quality? Last but not least, what is our role in interacting with the assistants, and what did we learn about asking the right questions?
The AI assistants we cover are the publicly available versions of ChatGPT 4, Google Gemini, Microsoft Copilot, and Amazon CodeWhisperer.
The presentations will conclude with a Q&A, with time and space to ask your questions to all researchers and speakers. You’re also welcome to share your own experience with the crowd.
If you can't make it in person, we also covered you with a live stream. Details will be added soon.

About Mendix Meetups
The Mendix Community Meetups are about meeting other makers, sharing knowledge, and learning something new.
What we don't do at meetups:
Join us to discover what role Mendix extensibility can play in the upgrade and improvement of a large-scale order management system. In this meetup we will provide insight into the challenges faced with a large-scale order management system and discover the ways that we can utilize Mendix extensibility to make the life of a developer much more efficient. We will do this by means of 2 presentations:
Large-scale order management
Learn about:
· managing orders on a large scale with Mendix and what impact the seasons have on peak performance.
· the challenges faced with a Mendix approach to 24/7 availability needed to serve your customers.
· the challenges when performance is key in a global SaaS solution. How do you handle a 320 Gb database and tens of thousands of transactions?
· regulations and data security which are paramount for your business continuity. Moreover, you probably all will have used this platform without even knowing there is such a highly complex Mendix application enabling you.
Extend Mendix development beyond the default
In this second presentation we will take an in-depth look into the different StudioPro extensions that we have developed to make our life as developers easier and more efficient when performing an upgrade of the introduced large-scale system from Mendix 7 to version 9 and improving its functionality. The extensibility framework for StudioPro can be leveraged to speed up mondain tasks and can help in gaining more in-depth insight into related items. We will also demonstrate how the developed extensions can help with improved security and compliancy, also for your projects. Learn about the future steps in Mendix development by automating mondain tasks and gaining insight into your applications.

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/68aa12fb-c28b-4695-94d6-9f3f9da23278Maintaining a landscape of Mendix applications can be a time-consuming task; How can you track which applications need an update of some marketplace module? Which applications contain inline styling in order to determine the impact of the upgrade from Atlas 2 to 3? Which applications contain an outdated Java library, or one with severe security vulnerabilities? How can you check applications for your own best practices? And how can we reduce the repetitive upgrade and development efforts?
The Mendix SDK provides a way to read, change, and create Mendix applications. While the use of TypeScript may discourage you to start using the SDK, it is the solution to offer smart insights and detect incompliancy of your Mendix application landscape as well as to take away repetitive modelling tasks and reduce development efforts. During this meetup we will guide you through the opportunities and challenges of the Mendix SDK.
Presentations
In the first presentation, Wiemer Steenbeek will show how to use the Mendix SDK to detect (outdated) components in your Mendix application, to ease and focus upgrade efforts. In the second presentation, Marien Krouwel will show how you can use the Mendix SDK to automate migration from an OutSystems application to Mendix, as an example of how to transform any input model to Mendix.

Join us for the second installment of the Fun & Function Meetup series at Mendix HQ, by being part of creating the first ever Mendix Advent Calendar. In this meetup series we'll dive into the creative possibilities of Mendix by exploring and discussing well-known games and puzzles like Tetris, Pac-Man, or a Sudoku solver, all built (by you) on the Mendix platform.
The plan is to have every participant go nuts with their styling knowledge and create one day of the advent calendar. The concept of a regular advent calendar is to open the day, and find a prize. For our Mendix Advent Calendar, we want the opening of the day to be the challenge. This means creating some kind of puzzle, or set of interactions that the user needs to perform, to "open" the specific day of the calendar.
If you want to participate in the challenge (this is NOT a live coding event) or want more information, please get in touch! (m.leppen@capegroep.nl)

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/c0884dca-1491-4d3f-b4fd-801f578f92f9Ensuring water quality means measuring it first with a reliable and efficient tool. At the heart of this Mendix Native Offline App, developed for and with RIVM is the ability to manage and disperse dynamic questionnaires—fetched from the back end and stored locally for concurrent offline use by multiple water quality samplers, and then later sent back into the back end again.
This presents a unique challenge: how do you structure and store dynamic questionnaires without relying on typical patterns such as inheritance, all while ensuring compatibility with Mendix Native Offline functionality? How to prevent sync errors when multiple users are working on the same data?
At this event, we'll demo the app and dive deep into the app and the technical design choices that made it possible, showcasing how questionnaires are seamlessly retrieved from an Oracle back end via ORDS and integrated into Mendix via REST, then synced to a device, as well as the reverse.
Join us at the Sopra Steria office in Utrecht to learn how this innovative app is advancing Dutch water quality management for RIVM and its partners. After this session you will know a lot more about the challenges of building a truly offline-first Mendix native application.

Sparking Success With AI - Gregor Swan, MendixAI and low-code share common goals and mutual benefits. As AI matures, new features and solutions become available, and rapid access and integration becomes more critical to take advantage of these. With Mendix application development, almost no advancement or innovation is off the table. Hear from Gregor about how Mendix helps lower the barrier to sophisticated AI technology with connectors and pre-built components that reduce the complexity of AI integration, enabling organizations to capitalize on innovation as it happens.
Scaling Adoption & Building a Low-Code Community - Iain Lindsay, AuraQDespite advancements in AI, low-code also remains one of the fastest-growing industries in software. What really makes Mendix so impactful is the ability to build on your organization’s skills. To scale low-code adoption, many look to establish a community or center of excellence. https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/efaf38b6-9f3e-41f0-ae0f-38dcd1564f6fThe Network and Information Security directive (NIS2) demands that we maintain the highest compliance standards at Enexis. We are the first line of defence to protect the critical Dutch energy infrastructure. In this second meetup of the “Secure without Excuse” series, we’ll share our approach to meeting these high standards while fostering and focusing on an excellent Mendix Developer Experience at Enexis.
At Enexis, we’re navigating the energy transition—an enormous challenge that no one can solve alone. Innovation isn’t optional; it’s essential. Our way forward lies in the unknown, where speed, agility, and quality must come together without compromising on security. That’s why we embrace the mindset of being Secure without Excuse in everything we build.Delivering energy isn’t just our job—it’s what keeps hospitals running, homes heated, and communities powered. With a Mendix landscape of over 120 applications, 360 environments, and 60+ developers, we carry a responsibility that goes far beyond IT. So how do we move fast while staying secure and compliant with NIS2?
In this session, we’ll dive into what NIS2 really means for Enexis—beyond compliance, and into practical application. We’ll show how our NIS2 policy translates directly into actionable, technical implementations that work at scale.
You’ll learn how we:
And… we’ve got a small surprise planned for the community. Let’s just say: you’ll leave with more than just inspiration.
We want to learn from you, too. We’re eager to exchange ideas and hear how others are approaching vulnerability management in their own complex landscapes.
This session is for anyone passionate about balancing speed and security in software development—especially in large-scale, mission-critical environments like ours.
Agenda 🗓️
Speakers
Rom van Arendonk (Speaker) – Chief Architect at The Orange Force & Mendix System Architect at Enexis:
Rom has over 14 years of experience in Mendix and has been instrumental in building robust, enterprise-level applications. For the past 8 years, he played a key role in the establishment of a high-quality Mendix practice at Enexis. Rom will provide valuable insights on how Enexis efficiently translates policy into technical implementation within its extensive Mendix landscape.
Bart Tolen (Speaker) – Mendix Platform Engineer at EnexisWith over 30 years of experience in IT and more than 15 years working with Mendix, Bart Tolen has played a key role in shaping enterprise-grade solutions in his career. Over the past 8 years, he has focused on building SaaS developer tools specifically tailored for Mendix teams—covering areas such as performance diagnostics, CI/CD, automated functional testing, load testing, security testing, and static code analysis. Bart brings deep technical expertise on the inner workings of the Mendix platform, combined with a relentless focus on developer experience. His mission: to abstract away complexity so that developers can focus on delivering value—faster, safer, and with confidence.
To round out the session, a guest from our CISO office will share how NIS2 is driving change across Enexis, and what it means for developers working on mission-critical applications. Expect a clear view into the security lens behind our approach.

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/10412972-7557-428f-9687-5fd22a850814Accessibility isn’t just a buzzword — it’s about making sure everyone can use your application, regardless of their abilities. Yet many developers still struggle with what accessibility actually means, how to test for it, or where to start.
Have you ever thought about what it’s like for someone using a screen reader to fill out a form? Or how frustrating it can be to navigate an app without proper keyboard support? In this Meetup, we’ll explore why accessibility matters, what the legal and ethical implications are, and how you can start building Mendix apps that are inclusive by design.
Whether you're a developer, tester, designer, or product owner — if you're ready to make a real impact through better user experiences, this Meetup is for you!

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/29c5e5a4-30bc-4a9b-8034-bd2ac0ed83adJoin us for a Widget Development Meetup organized by Mendix at our Rotterdam office!
While Mendix excels as a low-code platform for rapid application development, there are scenarios where we need to extend beyond the standard UI components. This is where pluggable React widgets come into play, bridging the gap between Mendix’s low-code environment and fancy designs from designers.
Creating React widgets for Mendix presents unique challenges as it requires understanding both the Mendix ecosystem and React development paradigms. We need to consider best practices on how these custom components interact with Mendix’s runtime, handle data flow between the low-code and code-based environments, and maintain them across Mendix version updates.

While Mendix offers support for unit testing, understanding how much of your app is actually covered can be a challenge. Until now, test coverage tools required command-line scripts, full model exports, and offered little visual feedback. That’s why we built a custom Studio Pro extension to bring real-time test coverage insight directly into Mendix Studio Pro.Using the new Mendix Extensibility API, we developed a seamless way to view test coverage at a glance with no terminals or guesswork. With clear charts, detailed flow-by-flow breakdowns, and smart configuration options, you’ll instantly see which logic is covered and where gaps remain. Creating this extension came with its own set of challenges with will be discussed at the meetup: integrating with Mendix’s runtime, syncing with project data, and ensuring performance in daily workflows.
Topics:
💻 From Terminal to IDE: How we replaced a clunky workflow with a fully embedded extension;
📊 Visualizing Coverage: Showing complex test data in an intuitive way;
🤖 Towards Automation: Our plans to auto-generate unit tests for validation flows.
Join us to see the tool in action and help shape what’s next. Remember to reserve your spot as this will only be an in person event.

Unsere Themen:

When does low-code need pro-code?
Czyli co potrafią platformy low-code, a kiedy warto sięgnąć po rozszerzenia i dopisać funkcjonalność klasycznym podejściem.
Na scenie zobaczysz Mendix, Salesforce i Power Platform w akcji, a każda prezentacja podzielona będzie na dwie części:
🔹 Teoria - krótki wgląd w możliwości danej platformy i jej mocne strony.
🍕 Networking i relaks

AI encompasses much more than just asking a Large Language Model your question. It also includes the machine learning and algorithmic elements we've been using for our clients for years. How exactly does this work and how we're leveraging the latest developments in AI to deliver game-changing AI for our clients? We'd love to walk you through it during our workshop.
During this afternoon, you'll get a hands-on explanation of:
- The power of AI within the Mendix low-code platform
- The different levels of game-changing AI
- How you can truly make a difference with AI in your IT landscape tomorrow with a sound strategy
What will this afternoon entail in short?
The most important thing during the workshop is that you actively engage with the four different types of AI we use to optimize business processes. Therefore, the workshop will focus primarily on what's important to you, and we'll organize three separate workshops, each focused on a specific sector: Transport & Logistics, Healthcare, and Food. This ensures that the cases and examples fully align with the challenges and processes relevant to your organization. While the basic principles of AI are the same in all sessions, the practical case study will vary from workshop to workshop, so you can truly experience how AI works in your sector.
Opening
Think big: Experience Agentic AI yourself with a sector-specific CASE
Act small: Demo, explaining the pros and cons of the 4 AI types.
Chatbot with prompt + context | Chatbot with your own data sources | Chatbot with your own data sources & triggering actions | Full Agentic AI

https://partners.home.mendix.com/link/community-events/e16a25f1-c59e-4bff-84a1-69b048f0a969Architecture isn’t a job title—it’s a way of thinking and making decisions. Learn how you (junior to senior) can grow architectural skills and create lasting impact.
As Mendix developers, we’re trained to move fast and deliver value. But as applications grow into landscapes—more teams, more integrations, higher security demands, stricter quality expectations—delivery alone isn’t enough.
You need architectural thinking: making trade-offs explicit, designing for change, and creating guardrails that keep teams productive.
This meetup explores the path toward becoming a Mendix architect. We’ll break down what “architecture” really means in practice, how the architect role differs from senior development, and—most importantly—how you can start building architectural impact regardless of your current level.
You’ll leave with a clearer mindset, shared vocabulary, and practical examples you can apply in your next refinement, design session, or technical review.
Anyone building Mendix solutions—from curious juniors to experienced seniors and tech leads.

Client State & Garbage Collection
Curious how the Mendix Client really works under the hood? Join our meetup and uncover the secrets behind Client State & Garbage Collection and how they impact memory, performance and scalability of your applications.
How Client State works: Understand how objects are stored in the browser, how state grows, and why it matters for app performance.
Garbage Collection in Mendix: Discover how unused objects are cleaned up, what stays in memory, and what can cause unexpected memory bloat.
Performance pitfalls & best practices: Learn how to avoid hidden state issues, optimize your microflows, and keep your app fast and efficient.
Grid Inteligence
We all know about grid congestion and challenges society faces as a result of it. Smart technologies such as demand-side management are key to combat grid congestion. The National Energy Dashboard (NED) which is an joint initiative from Gasunie en TenneT provides free data on energy consumption, production, transport and storage.
I present the Footprint Reductor as a lightweight plug-and-play Mendix module to bridge the gap between the data from the NED and Mendix applications.
• Lightweight: Find out how we kept flexibility while we were eliminating the need for technical know-how.
• Performance: Learn how we took the client state into account to enable optimal performance.

This session explores the learning curve of a Mendix Developer, from the very first steps in the platform to building real, functional applications. We’ll walk through the key milestones, common challenges, essential skills, and best practices that shape the journey toward becoming productive in Mendix.
But this won’t be a one‑way presentation.
Throughout the talk—and especially during the Q&A—we want to create real interaction with the audience. We encourage questions, reflections, and even short hands‑on moments or mini‑workshop interactions where relevant. The goal is to learn from each other, compare experiences, and share practical do’s and don’ts from the field.
We hope you’ll bring your own insights, challenges, and best practices so we can turn this into a collaborative and lively session. Bring them with you!
