General Information

Business Need: Robbert Heinecke, a firefighter and IT specialist with 25 years of experience, recognized the critical need for timely, accurate information in crisis response. He leveraged low-code technology to develop the Decision Support application with Mendix and JAM-IT. Launched on New Year's Eve 2023, it processed 600 incidents, enhancing safety and efficiency for first responders in Rotterdam-Rijnmond and Zuid Holland-Zuid.

Solution: The Decision Support Tool is vital for effective incident management, aiding responders from initial 112 calls. It integrates and interprets data from internal and external sources, providing insights tailored to fire, ambulance, and police services. Designed by Suraya at MIC for centralized situational awareness, Armando (JAM-IT) ensures clear visualization for user understanding.

Results: The Decision Support (Beslishulp) application combines data sources in a novel way and presents them in one information hub designed to maximize decision support. The app connects a low-code frontend built on the Mendix platform to the backend built as a custom data warehouse, creating a robust safety tool unlike anything else on the market.
