We at JAM-IT were tasked to develop a completely new concept in football: creating a real-time football app that allows football enthusiasts to find each other nearby and play together. This gave rise to Let's Goal: an app that makes it easy to arrange games and play football together nearby.

We at JAM-IT were tasked to develop a completely new concept in football: creating a real-time football app that allows football enthusiasts to find each other nearby and play together. This gave rise to Let's Goal: an app that makes it easy to arrange games and play football together nearby.
Solution:
Because the app needed to be equipped with real-time functionality, we saw opportunities to work with innovative solutions. For example, it was important to give users the ability to continuously see updates on the map and calendar. This meant that if another user checked in at a field, their avatar would immediately appear on the map, and the corresponding calendar item would be added. Additionally, it was also a fun challenge to style the app and provide real-time updates without users having to manually refresh the page. To achieve this, we used websockets, an innovative protocol in the IT world.
Throughout the process, we worked with a team of experienced developers to ensure that the app would be of high quality. While working on the app, we also encountered some obstacles, such as the client's request to display advertisements in the app. Unfortunately, those libraries did not work well with Mendix. Luckily, in addition to the standard building blocks, the Mendix platform also includes the ability to use custom JavaScript and Java, allowing us to implement these native features and bring the app to a complete success.
Results:
The result is Let's Goal, an app that provides users with insight into available football fields and makes it easy to arrange games and play together, with a playful look and feel. This gives football enthusiasts the opportunity to find each other and share their passion. As a team, we are confident that the app will be a great success, and we look forward to working with everyone who loves football.
