Solution: To meet these requirements, JAM-IT developed Transporting Highway using a hybrid approach. The backend was built on the Mendix platform, allowing us to define and maintain the logic and formulas behind the advanced calculation engine efficiently. The frontend, on the other hand, was developed using JavaScript and React to create responsive interfaces, custom widgets, and smooth interactive components. This combination leverages the best of both worlds: the robustness and maintainability of Mendix combined with the flexibility and user-centric design capabilities of React. Since Mendix itself is compatible with React-based components, both technologies integrated seamlessly, enabling rapid development without compromising performance or usability.
Results: The result is a powerful, user-friendly application that allows companies to effortlessly plan and manage vehicle transport operations. With the integrated calculation tool, users can factor in vehicle dimensions, distance and travel time, current fuel prices, toll costs, and desired delivery times—all contributing to highly accurate cost estimates. The platform also keeps users fully informed about the status of their transport via SMS and email notifications, enabling better decision-making regarding lead time and margin optimization.
