BQ support is an organisation that simplifies the flower bulb inspection process for growers. They offer their customers a so-called full-service approach to relieve growers as completely as possible. During peak periods of the year, the flower bulb containers are piled high in front of the door of BQ support to have all bulbs tested in time. BQ support has to perform many manual operations for each new batch, which means that it is almost always necessary to work until late during those periods. BQ support therefore came to us with the request to automate this process so that the staff can be relieved, with the main objective of no longer having to work overtime. Especially the culture of Ciphix (former WebFlight) BQ Support matches very well. Not only the desire from BQ Support to build this application in Mendix was a direct fit, but all conversations were also a celebration right from the start. BQ Support was already well prepared before talking to WebFlight. For example, they had a well-documented functional design made by a third party in advance. From this functional design, it was relatively easy for us to provide a good quote for the project, together with Mendix.

Solution: For BQ Support we have realised a Mendix application that focuses on Business Process Management. The application takes over many manual actions from the employees. Growers report in advance in the system which bulbs they want to send for testing. After registration, they will receive a QR code that must be stuck on the shipping box. Thanks to these QR codes, the bulbs can be followed throughout the entire process both by BQ Support and the grower via notifications. An invoice is automatically sent at the end of the process, which also saves administration time.
Results: Within budget, we have delivered a working application that met the functional design. After using the application, BQ Support only has a few hours work to process the bulbs to be tested instead of the multiple days it previously took. This has ensured that the employees of BQ Support now spend less time booking new orders and finally have more room to spend time on customer service.
