Milieu Service Nederland was operating on a custom-built ERP system that had grown into a monolithic application. Making changes became increasingly difficult, causing long lead times and limiting flexibility. The ERP system became a bottleneck for growth and innovation, making replacement inevitable.
Business Need: Milieu Service Nederland was operating on a custom-built ERP system that had grown into a monolithic application. Making changes became increasingly difficult, causing long lead times and limiting flexibility. The ERP system became a bottleneck for growth and innovation, making replacement inevitable.
Solution: In close cooperation with Milieu Service Nederland, a new digital strategy was defined to gradually replace the legacy ERP. Multiple low-code applications were built using Mendix, supported by a custom high-code customer portal. Data synchronization was initially set up on AWS and later supported directly on the Mendix platform. In parallel, internal employees were trained and an internal development team was established. Once all identified applications were live in production, the legacy ERP system was fully removed.
Results: Legacy ERP system successfully phased out and removed. Five low-code applications and a custom high-code portal delivered and running in production. Improved flexibility and faster time-to-change across business processes. Internal development capabilities established through training and coaching. Enabled over 20% year-over-year revenue growth without increasing the number of employees.
