Milieu Service Nederland wanted to create a nationwide waste management platform that brings suppliers and customers together. While multiple Mendix applications and a front-end were already in place, there was insufficient control over users, authorisations, and data flows between the different applications. This limited scalability and made it harder to manage a growing user base.
Business Need: Milieu Service Nederland wanted to create a nationwide waste management platform that brings suppliers and customers together. While multiple Mendix applications and a front-end were already in place, there was insufficient control over users, authorisations, and data flows between the different applications. This limited scalability and made it harder to manage a growing user base.
Solution: A TypeScript-based backend was developed and hosted on AWS to act as a central control layer for the platform. The backend manages users, authentication, authorisations, and all data flows between the front-end and six different Mendix applications. Acting as a secure data gateway, the backend determines roles and routes requests to the appropriate Mendix application, enabling better governance, scalability, and the introduction of advanced features for over 10,000 active users.
Results: Centralised control of users, roles, and authorisations across six Mendix applications. Secure and scalable data flows between front-end and backend systems. Improved manageability of over 10,000 active users. Faster introduction of new platform features through a unified backend architecture. A robust foundation for a nationwide waste management platform.
